Choosing a right institution for higher studies in India

When planning for studies in India, make sure that the institution is recognized by UGC.
The University Grant Commission (UGC) is appellate body that monitors and maintains universities in
the country. There are 18 central universities (controlled by the central government) and 211 state
universities (controlled by state governments), 95 deemed universities, and 13 institutes of national
importance. There are more than 17600 colleges in India. There are 138 autonomous colleges in the
country. Colleges are established by state government, universities and private agencies.
Approximately 75% of the colleges are established by private agencies.

Form time to time, different publications conduct surveys and publish there own ranking for the
institutions. You may look for some useful information from those sites also.
